Imam Hussain (ع)

Imam Hussain ibne Ali (A.S) الحسين ابن علي ابن أبي طالب‎‎‎ the grandson of Holy Prophet (sws) was a 7th century holy Imam of the Muslim World and leader of Paradise who ultimately sacrificed his life along with his family members to safeguard humanity and global justice against tyranny and cruelty. Imam was demanded to pay his allegiance to a corrupt ruler, Imam refused and said “A man like me can never give allegiance to a man like him” and left to Kufa with his family and companions as he did not want bloodshed in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

On the way to Kufa his family and companions were forced to stop by a large army which stopped water supply and brutally killed Imam Hussain’s (ع) his family and companions. Imam sacrificed everything, including his life, his family to safeguard Islam and stood by his values and principles till his martyrdom.

The infamous tragedy of Karbala is remembered by everyone, The Karbala war was not between the two countries but it was between the Humanity and Brutality, between the God and Devil (shaitan).

Imam Hussain was born on the 3rd Shaban of 4th Hijiri in Madinah. Grandfather: Holy Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.S) (محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم). Father: Imam Ali Ibne Abi Talib (A.S) (علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام) The Lion of God. Mother: Fathema Binte Mohammad (S.A.W.S) (فاطمة بنت محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم) Leader of the ladies of the Heaven.

As per the divine command Imam Hussain (ع) was appointed as the Holy Imam of the Muslim world. Yazid after his father’s death committing breach of “Imam Hasan (ع) – Muawia Treaty”. Yazid the tyrant declared himself as the Caliph (King). Yazid a bad character, killer of innocents and the enemy of God. Yazid began to take allegiance (bayyat) from all Muslims, he also wanted Imam to allegiance (bayyat) to him, so that all Muslims would recognise Yazid as the rightful Caliph. As he was Tyrant would destroy Islam, Imam Hussain (ع) confronted Yazid and said, “A person like me can never give allegiance (bayyat) to a person like Yazid”. He also threatened to kill Imam Hussain (ع) if he refused to give allegiance (bayyat) to Yazid.

Imam Hussain (ع) also said that, “Death with honor is better than a life of degradation.” The holy Imam Hussain (ع) did not wanted bloodshed in the Holy Places like Madinah and Makkah, hence he left for Kufa (Iraq) as the people of Kufa invited Imam Hussain (ع) through thousands of letter, asking for his help and pledging their allegiance to Imam Hussain (ع) but they did not support him later. The Caravan of Imam Hussain (ع) including his brothers, sisters, women and children. On the way to Kufa intercepted at Karbala and encircled by Yazid’s army and stopped water and food to the Imam and his family members for several days. Even though “Nehere Furrath” branch of River Euphrates flowing with water, a single drop of water was not allowed to Imam Hussain’s (ع) family. Imam Hussain (ع) and his family suffered from hunger and thirst but they did not gave their allegiance (bayyat) to tyrant Yazid.

On the 10th day of Muharram the battle started between 72 followers of Imam Hussain (ع) and Yazid’s army that was in thousands and lakhs, the Battle of Karbala lasted from morning till sunset. Imam Hussain (ع) was killed and beheaded in the Battle of Karbala. After brutally killing most of Imam Hussain’s (ع) family and companions, including six months infant son, Ali Asghar, then the women and children taken as prisoners. Fire was set to their camp and the bodies were trampled by the hoofs of the horses; nobody in the history of the human kind has seen such atrocities.

Imam Zaynul-Abidin (ع) and other relatives of Imam Hussain (ع) were taken hostage and were taken to meet Yazid in Damascus on foot.

The Karbala war was not between the two countries but it was between the Humanity and Brutality, between the God and Devil (shaitan). Nearly 1400 years passed Imam Hussain (ع) is still alive in the hearts of Humanity who Pay homage to him. Not only Muslims but the entire mankind pay tributes with tears to the Holy Imam Hussain (ع) and his family who had sacrificed their lives for the sake of Islam and righteousness. Imam Hussain (ع) inspired millions of people, he resisted oppression and worked hard to establish Social and Global Justice. Salaam Ya Imam Hussain (ع).
